Our History
In May 2001, representatives from more than sixteen organizations affiliated with Pease Public Library began assembling for a series of community meetings focused on filling some of the gaps in the literacy needs in the greater Plymouth area, particularly basic adult education. The eventual outcome of those meetings was a volunteer-based tutoring program that became Pemi-Baker Literacy.
Mission
Pemi-Baker Literacy provides academic tutoring and English for Speakers of Other Language (ESOL) instruction to adult members of the Plymouth/Bristol/Lincoln areas of Grafton County in New Hampshire.
Vision
Pemi-Baker Literacy is committed to improving the adult literacy and English language fluency levels in the Plymouth, NH area of Grafton County, New Hampshire by providing high-level instruction, flexibility, and academic support to interested adults.
We strive to be an active presence at the NH Department of Education's Bureau of Adult Education and to collaborate with the three SAUs of Pemi-Baker, Linwood and Newfound.
We work with related agencies and employers in our region for the purpose of collaborating and leading the way in providing a means for adults in our region to improve the quality of their lives.
